3 | #SumLuv Oh I have a run-in 😈 Lark hits Billy’s truck in a parking lot, which forces them into their longest conversation to date. It doesn’t make her any less suspicious over how kind he is; she wants to hate him harder because how dare he be so calm when her world is falling apart? RUDE

Excerpt from Song and Dance, a sage owen romance novel WIP. Text as follows: A screech of metal on metal. Lark stomped instinctively on the brakes. "Fuck!" she hissed, correcting the wheel, and jammed her ancient Toyota into park to get out and see what she'd done. The pickup was old but other than the nasty streak of brick red paint she'd left on its chrome fender it appeared to be in good condition. How had she been so clumsy? Oh right. A Carrie Wrangler hit had come on the radio and she'd been distracted trying to turn it off. She just couldn't escape her ruined life, and now she'd caused a car accident in a fucking parking lot. The slam of a heavy door. A big man came around the truck. "You alright?" He didn't even pause to assess the damage. As he closed in, he nudged back his hood and knuckled up the brim of a baseball cap. Lark bolstered herself for confrontation. "I'm so sorry, jesus I took the turn too tight and—" "Hey now." He soothed, smiling. He was looking her over. His brown eyes were soft with concern. "But you're alright? Not injured?" God was he serious? She frowned. "No, I'm fine." "Well alright." He said, relieved. "Again, I'm sorry-" "It's just a little paint. Nothing worth crying over." He made an offhand gesture, dismissing it.

An excerpt from SmokeWIP, a sage owen romance novel WIP. Text as follows: He scrutinized the details, took his time now that he had this freeze-frame of them side by side. Cory was a little shorter than Billy, not as broad through the shoulders and narrower through the hips, but more defined muscle. His eyes were a soft, warm, sun-faded turquoise made brighter by his tan. For the wedding both men had cleaned up, shaved the enviable crust of stubble they could grow in a matter of days, leaving two mustaches with shockingly different attitudes. Billy had squarer, gentler features, while Cory's were carved and angular. Cory's hair was blonder, whimsical with its unserious shag cut. Billy's smile was symmetrical, honest. Cory's was uneven, devilish. He'd had that knowing, mischievous mouth all over him. Heard it spill some truly spectacular filth with the familiarity of a seasoned veteran. Cory knew his way around a bedroom. He'd been careful and gentle when it mattered, and hard and rough when that mattered too. His eyes drifted closed. He tossed his phone aside, took the memory of the night and built on its foundation.

Things I did this week instead of finishing my novel: -introduced my dog to a friend’s puppy -subtracted 1400 words, one at a time -drew my mmc, got in a fight with a colored pencil (and lost) -commissioned art of a spicy scene 😏 -ate a tomato off the vine Things I did not do: -write an ending
