State Board of Elections Member "Four" Eggers says Union County's majority plan to cut Sunday voting is "consistent." FACT: the majority plan in Union completely eliminates Sunday voting even though the County offered two Sundays with eight hours in the 2022 General Election.

"I hope we never hear the name Dallas Woodhouse again" said @NCSBE Chair Francis DeLuca, who in the same breath verbatim repeated Woodhouse's misleading talking points from a release *yesterday* about how he should be celebrated for providing "more opportunities" for voters: wlos.com/news/local/s...

As NC's Board of Elections decides 20 early voting plans that counties couldn't, Member Miller calls out fellow Member Hawkins who appeared 60x in public records from the Auditor's office shown to meddle in county elections — our letter to them on concerns about her impartiality: ccnc.me/SBOEletter

Who's "the boss"? More on last night’s tense Granville Co. Board of Election’s meeting that began as a debate over early voting access and devolved into a partisan double-cross dictated by the former the county's GOP Party Chair that folks in attendance pledged to remember in November.

"[M]ake no mistake, no one in the State Auditor’s office has a mandate to meddle with our state’s voting options...the actions of communities all across this state to push back against his pressure campaign on county officials make that loud and clear.” www.nbcnews.com/politics/202...

#HB958 means voters won't be heard + ballots won't count by doing things like ❌ appointing partisans to administer elections ❌ allowing mass voter challenges based on unreliable data ❌ giving partisan auditors the power to contest our ballots ❌ disenfranchising kids of NCians living abroad #ncga

Rare unanimous vote on an elections proposal in the #ncga. Rep. Blackwell's first #HB958 amendment of his own elex omnibus is universally adopted — removing efforts to gag local election officials from talking about, of all things, voter turnout.

Hundreds packed the Bladen Co. Commission meeting in Elizabethtown, NC tonight when commissioners threatened to alter districts in ways that would harm Black voters. The commissioner looked around and said, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." This is what democracy looks like. #AllRoadsLeadtotheSouth

Callais is a wolf in sheep's clothing: purporting to preserve VRA protections while making it all but impossible to challenge racist gerrymanders if and when politicians say maps were drawn for their political gain. This scheme is not new in NC...neither is our solution: we. will .never. back. down.

The president makes a public statement saying he plans to order the U.S. military to commit genocide tonight, as part of a war that has not been declared as required by our Constitution.

I'm sure there will be no long-term consequences to all of us veering between hypervigilance over potential nuclear war and trying to go to work because none of us can afford to pay our bills and may still be trying to recover from health consequences from the pandemic we're pretending didn't happen

After 25 years of amazing leadership, our Bob Phillips has retired from Common Cause North Carolina. We're so grateful to Bob for all he's done for democracy and for his dedication to the people of our state. We're thankful he will continue to be part of our Common Cause NC family! Thanks, Bob!

So many nightmares last night. Tonight’s will probably look like six Supreme Court justices disregarding precedent, dismissing reality, and dismantling the last vestiges of federal protections against racial discrimination in voting. Or something.

Ahead of NC State Board of Elections’ 1/13 meeting on nonunanimous 2026 primary early voting plans, voters are receiving notice that their feedback on early voting options is "rejected." This is an unfortunate departure from prior policy, which provided a public comment portal for state board review

Five and a half years ago, they called his a “medical incident.” Tonight hers was justified as “self defense.” Soon, they won’t even feign an excuse, it’ll just be a weekday in America. We have to keep calling it what it is: murder, in cold blood, in broad daylight, by a lawless government.
