We know learning the meanings of new words can be rewarding. Does everyone experience this reward equally? In a new preprint led by Nilgoun Bahar, we find that dyslexic find learning new words less rewarding, even when they successfully infer meaning. doi.org/10.64898/202... #reward #reading

Absolutely gutted by the recent UKRI MRC rejection, with review scores of 5,5, and 6 (out of 6). I don't really know what we could have done. Hours of work by me, my co-leads, and importantly, our stakeholders, including parents, teachers and SENCOs.

Would have been good to have added an apology for the lack of comms so far this year, particularly for those that submitted grants to UKRI applicant-led funding streams in Sept 2025, as these are highly unlikely to be funded (www.researchprofessionalnews.com/rr-news-uk-r...)

I - and I am sure many others - poured hours into our grant application last summer. These are not straightforward applications involving one group, as there are many researchers, patients, families and educators involved .. Hearing this makes me feel all our time was wasted.
