Mainstream media is tossing “socialist” around left and right - Dems need to get a jump on defining that word and taking it back tout de suite. “Socialism just means that the government uses your tax dollars to provide you services, instead of giving it to the billionaire class.” Or something.
On Jan 7, 2021, Congress certified Biden as the winner of the 2020 election. It isn’t just that he received a majority of electoral votes. The answer to this q is a conclusively-established legal fact in our govt. No one who refuses to acknowledge this can faithfully swear to do impartial justice.

Abdul El-Sayed has never held elected office and just won the primary for a senate seat in the biggest battleground state in the country by beating a congresswoman who was endorsed by the current Senator, Governor, and Schumer & the DSCC while being outspent over 10 to 1. That win is plenty big.

So far, the organizers mention data centers first at every single event. From racial justice orgs to old school activists who don’t usually think about tech policy. This has legs.

I've lived in rural (and urban-ish) North Louisiana going on 15 years. Mostly deep red, pockets of light blue. I've not seen people organize around any issue like the data centers. They won't beat Amazon's and Meta's money in the short term, but they're ripe for mobilization.

Is a socialist candidate electable in a purple state? A modestly interesting question. A more interesting question: what if socialist candidates, despite facing opposition from their own party, not only win, but overperform? What if the moderate assumption of themselves as “electable” is exposed?

These are acts of excision. Blue states are being removed from the Union of sovereign states and treated as conquered territory. They’re literally under military occupation in many cases. Trump himself has called this a “war”. He’s dismembering the Union, by force (among other means). It’s treason.

A lot of people are reaching for a common understanding of what AI means — not what it does — and there is too much money invested in keeping people confused.
If you're curious about how the right is going to try to frame the horrific fires in Spokane Washington, it looks like they plan to blame them on homeless people, local (DEM) city leadership, and state (DEM) mismanagement of forests. So, many of the same frames as the LA fires.
The reason the gravity of these crimes aren’t more widely understood is that people we should expect to respond appropriately to them have largely abdicated their duty.

I hope people like @youngvulgarian.marieleconte.com never have to explain this opinion to the “shafted young people” who lost parents, grandparents, and teachers, while getting infected over and over again with covid, because keeping schools closed for 3 months in spring 2020 was a STEP TOO FAR.
