My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’

It is so weird that there are people who can lose billions and be fine at their job. One time at Starbucks my drawer was off by a dollar and my job was in jeopardy. 😅
The point of capitalism is observably to create regular market failures so that everything goes to shit. This allows the very rich to consolidate more wealth. Allowing people to have money actually destroys capitalism, as it is based on stark inequality. The children MUST starve.

every couple of weeks some entity or orginization tries to float gavin newsom for president and every couple weeks i post some version of "gavin newsome sucks ass and everyone who likes him is a stupid nerd" and i guess that's just how it's gonna be for the next few years

you gotta remember that from a conservative perspective, these programs are a failure. they don't want to reduce homelessness, they want to punish homeless people. they'd pay 10x as much for that happily

The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.
A cool thing I just realized. Bluesky’s positivity algorithm means if you are replying to brands or companies with about their treatment of workers, how their products are poor quality or have ethical issues your reply will likely be hidden because it’s not “positive” Fun!

Things almost every culture has in common: • some sort of dumpling • history of misogyny
and their only example of why radicalization against the failing status quo is bad was DOGE, e.g. the far right doing whatever they want. Liberalism is just being resigned to permanent failure as politics.
It's simple: if they do this then, people will not work for minimum wage. Every business and corporation will have to treat its people well, and to pay them more, thus making profits go down for them. It is because billionaires do not want solutions, but more money hoarding.
We don’t need to reform ICE. We don’t need alternatives to ICE. We don’t need to engage in dishonest debates wondering what the U.S. would do without ICE. ICE isn’t even 23 years old. Most adults know a world without ICE. And the billions used to fund ICE can be used to meet people’s basic needs.
Trans people have exhaustively detailed the links between the anti-trans and anti-abortion movements, we warned that transphobia was a wedge issue for the religious right to roll back women's rights, only for us to be ignored, and of course UK TERFs are setting their sights on abortion.

She claims abortion requires "justification" saying the state should limit "unacceptable decision-making" by women about their own bodies. This is who anti-trans activists proclaim as the feminist thought leaders of our time.
Today is an excellent day to restore Link’s account, as other people who did the exact same thing were only given short suspensions. He was one of the most positive voices here and he deserves to be reinstated.
fuck these politicians and everybody in the obscenely wealthy class robbing us of our futures whether in America or outside. They truly do see themselves as the world police and managers. We do not have to let this keep happening to others and ourselves.
