if there's anything i've learned in my many years of writing and reading media criticism, it's that it doesn't matter how offensive a portrayal of a marginalized person is, there will always be someone of that identity who has personally reclaimed that character. and p often that person is also me.

For @liswelch.com, Cyberpunk 2077 never righted its transphobic wrongs — namely that "Mix It Up" ad from 2019. But the game's legacy in the trans community is complicated, and many see it as the transfictional world that helped them find who they are.
