Stories are coming out about the DSA's platform calling for the elimination of the US Senate and a parliamentary election of the president. I disagree with those ideas, but mildly. I would turn the Senate into a national plebiscite, elected by party, with a direct national election for president.

Gerrymandering lets politicians choose their voters instead of the other way around. Until we end that, it will remain difficult to achieve the things most Americans already agree on.

The White House Correspondents Dinner should end. At the very least, the president should be barred from entry, forcibly, forever more. He disgraced it permanently, as was utterly predictable. It was a forum of humiliation; for reporters, for the president and for the republic. It cannot be saved.
