Had so much fun following Indy, a bald eagle, as she traveled through Hartsfield-Jackson yesterday en route to the 250th celebrations in Philadelphia. Gift link, because everyone should get to experience the joy of seeing a bald eagle go through TSA: www.ajc.com/news/2026/07...

Yes, that’s a bald eagle on your Delta flight

On a flight from Atlanta to Philadelphia on the eve of the nation's 250th anniversary, Delta passengers had an unexpected travel companion: a bald eagle.

47 years ago, Atlanta became the first city in the Southeastern U.S. to operate a modern rail rapid-transit system. The initial 6.7-mile operating segment opened exactly seven years, seven months, and 21 days after local voters gave the system a referendum go-ahead in 1971.

A few hours and counting for MARTA. At noon Saturday, as a shimmering MARTA train glides out of the Avondale transit station on an historic 15-minute journey, Atlanta will become the first city in the Southeast to operate a modern rail rapid-transit system. Passengers are expected to crowd the seven stations along MARTA’s initial 6.7-mile east line for a ride on opening day, which comes exactly seven years, seven months and 21 days after local voters gave the system a referendum go-ahead in 1971.

Ahead of the NextGen bus network redesign launching SATURDAY, @stephanielamm.bsky.social and I looked at 3 years of MARTA's bus cancellation data. The new network requires fewer operators and fewer buses, which should help reduce cancellation rates. 🎁link: www.ajc.com/news/2026/04...

MARTA’s new bus network promises more frequency, but will test reliability

Addressing bus infrequency, one of regular riders’ chief complaints, is among the top aims of MARTA’s bus network redesign that goes live on Saturday.
