The first amendment on the floor establishes that no bonds can be taken out against the TAD-extension without a redevelopment plan. The vote amendment is added with a unanimous vote. A second, similar, amendment is added.

Ugh! Dickens appears to have taken thousands of dollars from the Affordable Housing Fund and used it to pay consultants who pushed for his TAD renewal initiative. Also: support local journalists! @atlpresscollective.com did great work on this.

Atlanta has spent more than $370,000 on consultants tied to Mayor Andre Dickens’ Neighborhood Reinvestment Initiative, records show. Some also advocated publicly for the plan without disclosing their financial ties.

Atlanta was supposed to do this but Mayor Andre Dickens rejected millions in earmarked regional funding and the pleas of local businesses and residents to dismantle Shared Peachtree, directly leading to two pedestrian deaths. It was rumored he did this to appease a single Republican oligarch.

I asked CMs to write into the TAD ordinance that there'd be no extra money going to projects favored by big downtown real estate elite: Stitch, Gulch, CNN Ctr or any others. Cap grants at $10M per project to make sure. It should be obvious that these don't help turn poor people's lives around.
