Absolute brag post. Indoor recess and my 1st graders (6&7 years old) have a pizza shop with ‘consumers, producers, scarcity’, and an actual ‘supply chain’ situation going on. My work here is done.
Driving your kids and their friends around is such a humbling source of information. Yesterday I overheard that I have a purple “angry” shirt.
Like many experienced teachers I saw no pathway to keep developing my practice and instead found it outside of the classroom. We have the expertise to fix the system in our schools and unleashing it is key to retention and reducing reliance on external support.
Dr Haili Hughes@hugheshaili.bsky.social · 2y agoI was a career changer and like many people with more experience, rushed into a leadership position. It was too soon and I did a terrible job; I simply didn't have the mental models to do the job well. Rushing out of the classroom now seems common.
