ICE’s airport arrests of people seemingly waiting in government immigration backlogs caught up a Fulbright scholar and public health researcher working at Johns Hopkins in their public health department. Not exactly the “worst of the worst”! Yet they threw her in detention anyway.

The ICE arrest total in tiny Mount Holly Springs, just 1.4 square miles with a population of fewer than 2,500, seems staggering. As of February, there were only 67 immigration arrests by local police across the entire state. But now this one borough is on track for nearly 100 arrests in a year.
