obsessed with the part where someone asks how she avoids erroneous information and she says 1) she has AI double-check itself 2) she has used it so often that she has a 'good feel' for the errors that it will make and just anticipates those
"History involves sorting and organizing hundreds of thousands of facts" I remain astounded by how loud and wrong people are about what history actually is.
THURSDAY ON @thisguysucked.com: Nick Guyatt @nicholasguyatt.bsky.social and Christa Dierksheide convince me that there’s actually *another* reason to dislike this man.

“If this was true, I would be in jail” is not a real profession of innocence; it is a brag about how strenuously the state protects the male right of private sphere violence against women and children.
Those who believe things like this are working hard at not understanding the finite options available to someone whose abuser has not been prosecuted, found guilty, etc. by the law. And how rarely those things happen to abusers, esp. high-status white male abusers.

the wnba alienating their core audience for the sake of people who wouldn’t watch a wnba game to save their child’s life is a bold gambit, to be sure

It’s a wonderful day to say Happy Birthday to me and James Baldwin and abjure JD Vance who does NOT deserve to have a birthday
Some of you just can’t exist without being mad online at allies and I very much encourage those of you to try to construct your identity around something else
A lot of people I really respect have been working hard for a long time to make this style of engagement *not* be the norm in academia. None of the people I am around do this (and would never valorize it) because it is the worst thing about the academy.
I don’t really want to get into this with people who feel this way, but i don’t think this is a good thing! We don’t need to behave this way! It’s not healthy to approach academic discourse as an exercise in harshness!
Just got the cutest coordinated birthday presents ever: a Met membership from my mother, and my fiance is getting me “anything I want” from the gift shop when we go tomorrow 🥹🥹🥹

What is an extremely nerdy/obscure/specific thing you hate with a white-hot wrath?
they had their knives out for Wishbone: just constant complaints about his wife being human yet Telemachus not being some Goofy-esque dog-man, things of that nature
"Fire boots of the highest caliber can cost $800 a pair, with less expensive models in the $300-$500 range." Really fascinating bit of journalism/material culture/history on boots, firefighting, capitalism, and the (many) failures of the state. www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i...
