AI agents being able to run unit tests is SUCH a massive unlock. If you're a dev who has utilized unit tests heavily: using a tool like Claude Code makes so much sense. And if you don't yet use tests: with AI agents, don't see how you would not do it sooner or later...

When has the tech industry become so hostile to interns/new grads/early-career engineers? I post that there's finally some good news of a *few* (not many!) companies hiring interns/juniors and the response is universally negative So: what happens when we stop hiring young ppl?

I keep observing how a bunch of large companies have *really* smart engineers doing *really* complex+challenging+interesting work and... no one knows about it outside. I only get to know about it by chance. Sometimes it's the PR policies stopping talk about this, but more often:

This will come across as super biased but I swear I'm using Amazon Q to write tests for a serverless workload (step functions) and it's amazing like water in the desert. I wish I had Q as a customer 6 years ago 😭♥️

The vast majority of MCP servers today aren't actually servers 😱 They run as a child process and communicate over stdio, a bit awkward for distributed systems trying to use MCP. Backend apps can now run existing stdio MCP servers in Lambda functions with this new library: github.com/awslabs/run-...

Being on a team that is moving fast and getting shit done is one of the best feelings in the world. As my coworker @gsiener.bsky.social says... it's not "happy engineers ship fast"; it's that engineers who ship fast ARE HAPPY ENGINEERS. It's not the whole story, but it's a lot of it. ☺️
