The pay review body’s 3.5% pay ‘uplift’ is hugely disappointing for SAS and Consultants whose value and pay have been eroded for years. Senior doctors are standing together to push this Government to commit to improvements. On the 11 May we will open ballots for Industrial Action in England.

The SAS six campaign infographic, featuring a summary of the campaign asks: 1. Every early career SAS doctor should have access to an educational supervisor. 2. All SAS doctors should have equity of access to professional development opportunities relevant to their stage of career. 3. All specialty doctors who meet the required capabilities should have the opportunity to become specialists. 4. Senior SAS doctors should be offered the opportunity to be educators at every level on a par with consultants e.g. educational supervisors, clinical supervisors, directors of medical education. 5. All extended roles in leadership and management should be open to all substantive medical staff that is, consultants and appropriately experienced SAS doctors. 6. All LEDs employed for more than two years within one NHS employer should be offered the opportunity to transfer to the appropriate SAS contract.

SAS are often told they are "just for service". Nothing wrong with "service", thats why we all became doctors. But @drrosena.bsky.social shows a SAS career can have so much more potential. Leadership, QI, research, education or even being an MP!! #SASsix

It is always a great day when we get to add another Trust to our slide. Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust have added implementation of the #SASsix to their medical EDI policy, which launched today. Bravo!
