I jumped into my giant project head first, and I don't recommend it. But, I don't want people to think I didn't prepare. I studied screenwriting and storyboarding in college, and various comic-making resources and more books on story structure before I started planning How to be a Werewolf

The advice "Don't make your first project a overambitious sprawling epic" is good. The problem is that I don't think people can really learn that lesson before they ignore the advice and just do it anyways. Sometimes you have to throw the baby into the pool to teach it how to swim.
