Inorganic chemist, crystallomancer, dad. Making MOFs since before they were called MOFs. Check out http://BraggYourPattern.com & http://elementsets.net.
Who's going to #IUCr2026 in Calgary? As the world's crystallographers 'assemble' in Canada - can we post some #BraggYourPattern pictures that we find on our journeys?
Our very last #BraggYourPattern Crystal Explorer kit has been ordered! After 3 years of working on this project, we have finished with 775 sets going to 697 primary schools across Australia and NZ, including some of the most remote schools in the world! A great legacy of #IUCr2023. #ozchem #IUCr
🎉740 Crystal explorer kits sent to primary schools all over Australia and New Zealand - the last 10 will get sent out this week! Thanks to everyone who signed up for one. #BraggYourPattern
Join us for the FIRST combined meeting of the Society of Crystallographers in Australia and New Zealand + the Australian X-ray Analytical Association: Crystal36-AXAA 2026 29th Nov-2nd Dec 2026 - in the beautiful Adelaide Hills town of Hahndorf. 🍻 Register & submit abstracts for early bird savings!
So here’s why my flight to #MOF2026 got diverted to Tahiti (not my video). Not shown is the hour of abusive screaming as he was sat on by passengers at the back of the plane until we landed. Fun times.
Dorothy Hodgkin, Nobel Prize winner and crystallography pioneer, was born #OTD in 1910. Using X-ray crystallography she determined the structures of complex molecules including vitamin B10 and insulin: www.compoundchem.com/2019/05/12/h... #ChemSky 🧪

Congratulations to Helen Maynard-Casely and Team for the winning project Crystal-a-con in a Box 🙌 @crystallised-cricket.com
Great day yesterday talking to the kids of the LabRats Science Club (labratclub.com) about all things MOFs and Nobels. These weekend science clubs are so rare and wonderful - true diamonds in the rough. Still not convinced about the cardboard cutouts though... #OzChem
Here's the latest distribution map. 53 more schools have signed up since the post below! The most recent order is from a remote school in the Pilburra (NW part of WA), somewhere down the track in the photo. The Satellite view reinforces how remote it is. They also have an #elementsets on its way!
We just crossed the milestone of the 500th school to sign up for their crystal explorer kit!! #BraggYourPattern

There are now boxes of #CrystalExplorer kits ready to go, a FREE resource for Primary Schools in Australia and NZ. We're targeting regional and remote schools (so far reaching from Tom Price to the Chatham Islands), head to BraggYourPattern.com to sign up for one
Attention crystallographers and X-ray Analysts of Australia and New Zealand!! The SCANZ/AXXA conference this year will be in my beautiful home state of South Aus (I'm not biased at all 😉). Save the date! 💎 #BraggYourPattern #Ozchem
