While I may be disappointed in my Appendix N Jam entry this year, I am very excited for The Black Hack's 10th Anniversary Jam! Been kind of obsessed with this game for the past year or so and I'm excited to do something. I have an idea for an adventure and am getting started!

The Black Hack 10th Anniversary Jam

A game jam from 2026-08-01 to 2026-09-01 hosted by pikliz. Ten years ago David Black caved our heads in when he released The Black Hack into the world. Providing a hyper-streamlined ruleset, TBH is a ...

Two ideas that I had that were better: the dungeon is full of different shades of the same future wizard at different points from the future. Final encounter would be with the full wizard and influenced by how you interacted with the shades. Pretty loose but I feel like something is there? And 2 ⬇️

I’m really torn about having submitted this. On one hand I’m glad I got it done but on the other I REALLY phoned it in bc I procrastinated too long. I think the entry I did last year was pretty ok; not perfect or great or anything but something I could at least be proud of. This one? Not so much!

Ok, I did it! I completed my Appendix N Jam 2026 entry! I waited too long and had to cram like I was back in college to get it done, but I did it. I kind of hate it, but I'm happy I got it down to 3 pages so I could include a cover (thank you @perplexingruins.bsky.social for the amazing art!)

My Appendix N Jam submission is up! It's about a necromancer who is creating an undead army of only the beefiest barbarians and statuesque amazons and outfitting them with chainmail bikinis. There's also a sentient giant eyeball and a giant snake.

Time truly is a flat circle. There’s nothing that makes me think of Dr. Manhattan on Mars more than people’s reactions to WotC/Hasbro. The speed with which nerds will go from, “Fuck Hasbro!” to, “Feed me the slop, daddy!” gives me fucking whiplash.

HyveMynd@hyvemynd.bsky.social · 6d ago

TTRPG folks: "Hasbro is a terrible company!" "WotC is using gen-AI in its products!" "D&D has a stranglehold on the industry!" Those same TTRPG folks: "GenCon D&D keynote address!" "Darksun and Star Wars announced!" "Joe Manganiello's 'Death Saves' Yeah, baby. Let's go!" Pick a fucking side, yeah?

Look out motherfuckers, I'm back on my bullshit! Cleared out my MISC and Unsorted folders, and went through all of my 'loose' pdfs. Now I just found a MISC RPG resources folder which only had a few pdfs and then one folder titled Random Tables which has a bunch more. No idea what any of this is!

I also have a bunch of dumb shit where I'll have a folder, but somehow didn't manage to download anything into it, or just have partially downloaded it. So I'm also trawling through itch.io, drivethru, etc to make sure I actually have what I think I do. What a silly little project this is!

Despite talking about it for months and being generally really excited for it, I think I might throw the towel in on the appendix n jam this year. I'm not really excited about the voting/ranking/competitive aspect of it, and I don't really have a lot of inspiration for it at the moment. ⬇️

Maybe I can help. Vaccines are a product of natural sciences that study unchanging physical properties and while imperfect, are the best chance we have at understanding the world around us. Economics, however, is simply astrology for pedophiles

very tired of pretending that dismissing modern economics is somehow more reasonable than dismissing vaccines. if you’re not an expert, you don’t get to pick and choose parts of a field to believe! you have no way to tell between legitimate and illegitimate results in that field!

I changed my mind; I'm gonna have a folder for ALL of my adventures, and have subfolders for specific systems and a folder for system agnostic. So all of my Mörk Borg adventure will be in Adventures/Mörk Borg etc. And I'm going to keep the adventures folder outside at the top so it's easy to find.

I'm probably going to try to keep all adventures in the folder of their base system, and have a separate folder for system agnostic. I also have some specific folders for specific creators, which works if I remember who they are and what they did, but I don't always! So maybe moving those too!

My favorite genre of ttrpg adventure is, “What if a place was fucked up?” Like what if a place was really awful, and gross, and nasty, and had a bunch of nasty little freaks and fucked up little guys? That’s the stuff!
