Kirkmaiden Old, our #ScottishChurchOfTheWeek, has a fascinating interior. The coombed ceiling and decorative plaster roses over the sanctuary immediately attract attention. Original oil lamps are still located on each side of the pulpit and fittings for others can be seen around the building. 🧵1/2

A pipe organ dating from 1876 is being installed at St Barnabas’ Church in Jericho. Built originally for Bargeddie Church near Glasgow, it is being combined with pipework from Bow Common in London by Henry Willis & Sons Organ Builders, the firm that built the original instruments.
Today's the feast of St Peter in Chains, depicted by Lorraine Lamond, 2013, as part of a major scheme of glass at St Simon, Partick in Glasgow, which I photographed in 2015. The church and all its glass were destroyed in an arson attack in 2020.
