I grew up in Portage, Michigan from kindergarten to middle school. Michigan was my first real home, and I cherish that. I want what’s best for all you Michiganders, and that means voting for Abdul El-Sayed TODAY in the Senate primary to defeat Haley Stevens. Please, please, please make me proud! 🙏

I have a hard time recommending this because you do unfortunately need to listen to Ben talk, sometimes at a bit of length, but it’s worth it. Scott (from NerdSync) knows what’s up. Plus, I’m not sure I’ve seen anyone besides me get so up on the high horse about plot vs story.

Spoiler free review of spider-man: There was a mom and her kids next to me and they were taking the whole time and the youngest son was on a phone most of the movie and during the big emotional beat, he started scrolling tiktok and started playing a video out loud.

This actually makes so much sense why Ben only listens to half of each scene. “Blanc said this, so it must be the message of the movie.” No, Ben. Other characters also talk.

Remember that he is a strong proponent of the great man theory, therefore you only need to pay attention to one man in the story. Since Blanc is the main character, he only needs to listen to him. It eliminates that pesky thing called nuance, and reduces the number of things he needs to remember.

Shapiro does this thing that always used to enrage me in debate club, which is make statements of opinion but phrase them as objective facts even though he gives no examples or support. He thinks if he’s confident enough, no one will ask the follow-up “why?” He talks fast so you can’t.

I’m watching a very fun YouTube video but the guy keeps using the term “prodigal son” to refer to a Christ-like savior character and it is making me curious if people who weren’t raised religious misunderstand what a “prodigal son” is
