The “best” thing about genAI (the quotes are doing heavy work here) is that it’s really lowered the bar on getting into hand-made art. Literally anything you make is better than ai. There’s never been a better time to throw away your fear and start learning that craft you’ve always wanted to learn.

It’s interesting seeing the dividing line of responses that think mask as in like a physical but of kit on her face vs those that see the digital selection that it is here. (I haven’t looked into it beyond this, but I was wondering while watching if they used both at different moments.)

What people using AI crave at root is an end to the uncertainty of human interaction and connection and its replacement with endless hollow affirmation and instant gratification. They should be pitied but never enabled or excused.

It’s hard to explain but tv was better when you couldn’t watch the show you wanted whenever you wanted to watch it and most of the shows were worse and the TVs were worse and the entire experience was worse, that’s when it was better

It continues to fuck me up that we stay thinking about 9/11 but want to memory hole Covid so bad we're destroying the entire concept of public health in the US.

Also, like… SOME businesses were closed. People couldn’t get Applebees or a massage, but a lot of things were still open and DoorDash etc was absolutely hopping. Don’t tell me that was a lockdown.

Please stop saying “lockdowns.” There were never true lockdowns in the US, and it fuels far right narratives to repeat this inaccurate statement. You can say closures, you can say restrictions, or better, you can say public health measures which saved many lives.

As a trans nb person, I’m pretty happy with this whole 🧵 of response from Ken. I’m not the arbiter of the trans union though—I know a lot of folks who’d like to see… maybe a bit of an apology? (It seems worth noting that which take was bad and which reply was snarky remain un-indicated here.)

My 2 favorite shows of all time, Battlestar and DS9, were both *incredible* soap operas. The best non-timeline-altering episodes of TNG were soap opera episodes. Sci-fi at its *best* is part speculative, part interpersonal, and Moore has managed that better than almost anyone.
