We need to set the record straight about this because right wingers are trying to compare $5 gas under Biden to gas prices under Trump. Yes, gas hit $5 under Biden. For about 10 days in June 2022, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Then prices came back down. #BlueWaveIn20Days

The bill “would allow golfers to squeeze in 23 million more rounds a year.“ Well, we know why Trump is so motivated. Maybe people will start recognizing abuse when it’s not directed at a woman. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/03/u...

The US government is siding with fossil fuel companies in a SCOTUS case. Federal government: “Only the US government has the power and expertise to deal with something like climate change.” Also the federal government: “Climate change is a hoax and must be expunged from all government websites.”

Just heard on @npr.org: Residence in one state are being told that data centers benefit them because upgrades to the grid will protect them during regional power failures. This is a reminder that capitalism responds to human need best when it aligns with profit motives. If it doesn’t…

This botched attempt is as outrageous as the death penalty writ large. Tissue infiltration due to an improperly set line is a real problem. It happened to me during a minor day procedure and had my medical team scrambling when I asked why I was still conscious.🤔 www.nytimes.com/2026/10/01/s...

How Did Christa Pike Survive Two Lethal Injections of Pentobarbital?

A catheter carrying the drug may not have delivered the doses to Ms. Pike’s bloodstream, experts said. The drug itself may have been degraded.

Oh, I yearn for a world in which businesses are categorically banned from any form of political spending. Certainly let them make their case on relevant issues, but get their money out of it. Citizens can weigh what’s in the best interest of society.

Here’s Susan Collins walking in a parade-style campaign event. She’s concerned and wants to give Maine six more years of MAGA and corruption. Kudos to whoever took this video and captured the gas station sign.

Moonraker by Ian Fleming was written in 1964 and contains a number of anachronism. Here’s one from a scene where Bond is chasing Drax in a car with no windscreen and wearing racing goggles. Yes, we have few insects on the road today!

The cover of Moonraker by Ian Flemming in an original edition paperback. A page from Moonraker with a passage circled in red that reads “Bond’s face was a mask of dust and filth with the blood of flies and moths that it smashed against it. Often he had to take a cramped hand off the wheel to clear his goggles, but the Bentley was going beautifully, and he felt sure of holding the Mercedes.“

The sticking point: “the United States asked to delete mentions of equity, solidarity and universal access to sexual and reproductive health care services.” The United States has become an ideological backwater despite the views of a majority of its citizens. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/25/u...

Because employer contributions represent part of your total compensation package, every dollar diverted to absorb these 11% compound premium hikes is a dollar that cannot be used for baseline merit raises or bonuses. It’s like a hidden tax that is stealing wealth everyone who earns a paycheck.

Health insurance premium growth since 1999 has been a staggering +444.6%, outpacing worker earnings by 3.3 times and general inflation by more than 6.1 times over the last 27 years. It’s a tumor growing on the American economy.

Reason #5,563 that healthcare should not be managed by private for-profit companies. Market forces just don’t work when consumers have very little freedom of choice in the marketplace. Instead we are all held captive to this billing arms race.
