Grant Morrison doing a Kickstarter for their book about magic tracing the evolution of humanity from cave paintings to AI isn't really helping the discount Alan Moore vibe they keep trying to shake off.

Somehow things that would have been a background gag in a Verhoeven movie are now just real
The War of 1812 would've been more instructive if it had happened at least 100 years later.
I don’t think Americans know what it’s like to lose lose a war. Yes sure the US lost in Vietnam but obviously the costs were way bigger for uh the Vietnamese
The definitive edition of INTO THE UNBEING is out in a month and it looks stunning. I've mentioned previously but we went over every page and finetuned the lettering and colours. + we packed the back matter with new material.

Well... That's one movie off the list.
"If this is what it takes to get a rom-com greenlit these days, maybe we should just let them die. Death with dignity is surely a better fate for the genre than fascist capitulation." Zero stars for this piece of shit movie. My review of ONE NIGHT ONLY for @ebertvoices.bsky.social
Abdul El-Sayed was outspent 9-to-1 by AIPAC and corporate Super PACs in the most expensive Senate Democratic primary of all time. Last night, he proved that organized people can beat organized money.
If Sayed wins his race in November, the US Senate will officially have more Egyptians in it than The Mummy reboot cast
Oh....they're bringing back the Israeli playing an Egyptian I see...and aren't even casting Egyptians.... Yeah this Mummy sequel is going to be a full on Orientalist mess. Bold of them to do so again during *this* time lol. deadline.com/2026/08/the-...
In other Michigan news, the state looks set to elect it's first transgender lawmaker. Joanna Whaley won her Democratic primary and will compete in November for a state house seat, beating a primary opponent who tried and failed to disqualify her for not running under her deadname
Fascinating interview with Robert Kagan, where he says that the biggest mistake of the Iraq war was that it permanently crippled the American public's conceptualization of their country's role in the world, and then admits that America is exceedingly Islamophobic and this informs foreign policy.
Robert Kagan: Sometimes US intervention is worth blowback
In a wide-ranging interview with RS, the hawkish historian talks primacy, neoconservatives, and why he opposes the war in Iran

Still true btw for those who have an odd and totally not racist obsession with bringing up Dearborn or Uncommitted every day
Do centrist Dems realize that the incentive structure they're establishing by admonishing one of the few major Arab American figures who unequivocally endorsed Harris despite nothing being conceded on Gaza? The lesson for those Arabs will be to uh, not do that again.
I was talking to a college student today about the passing of the matryoshka doll from Grant Morrison and Rebis to Rachel Pollack and Kate Godwin to me and Galaxy and how much that means to me as someone who was a teenager who read those old DOOM PATROL comics and realized she wasn't alone.
One of the cool things about DC are the legacy characters. Characters who are connected not necessarily by family or circumstance, but by a shared history and view point. A line of creators who inspired the next, each a part of the larger story.
I will say I do appreciate centrist dems coming out of the closet with their racism and bigotry. Like thank you for being true to who you are so nobody forgets.
She really is speedrunning Hillary 08 with the overt racism and islamophobia during the primary and mincing support once she definitively lost. Calling this gracious is an insult.
A gracious concession: “I want to congratulate Abdul El-Sayed on winning the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. He is a doctor, a community health official, a Rhodes Scholar, and a dedicated Michigander. I am proud to offer my support as he takes on Mike Rogers in the general election…
Haley Stevens drops out of the race, endorses Abdul El-Sayed, and announces she's going to voice Shinji in a new Neon Genesis Evangelion dub from Vinegar Syndrome.
Listen, strokes/folks etc, but "Batman Begins > Barry Lyndon" should trigger a wellness check
Saw #BrandNewDay and it definitely had the core of a great movie in there. The actors were on point, but unfortunately we got yet another bloated monstrosity of a Spider-Man movie where Tom Holland got pushed out of his own film for the greater MCU design.
"In a world that is dominated by large, faceless, and uncaring systems, an anthology spotlighting the importance of humanity and individualism is more important than ever." Full thoughts: lifelinecomics.substack.com/i/200517103/... #SYSTEMIC Kickstarter: www.kickstarter.com/projects/art...
Okay for real. Sophie Campbell's Supergirl aside? MAWS's version of Supergirl is the GOAT.
This'll get even funnier if she pulls an Eric Adams and just starts shilling for data centers in another state or something.
Michigan U.S. Senate Democratic Primary Kent County Absentee: 🟣 Abdul El-Sayed – 4,106 (55.4%) 🟠 Haley Stevens – 2,895 (39.1%)
I genuinely do think this is why My Adventures With Superman and Superman and Lois are so much better than either the Gunn movie or the primary continuity comics. More diversity and that's especially with both works having women in the room compared to the comics.
(1) woman creator gets a "Special Thanks" out of 80+ years of publishing history for source material for a new Superman movie 😔 still excited to see it still think there's a lot of toxicity that needs to be reckoned with when it comes to who gets to work on the defining stories of superheroes
Managed to lock in my current internet rate for 5 years after they tried to double my bill. I'm feeling like a friggin miracle worker right now.
I love this comic so much folks. Makes me hope we get a complete collection for Ostrander/Mandrake Martian Manhunter.
Seeing Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Yada yada I'm part of the problem but I love Tom Holland.
