Here on E Street, we are heartbroken over the death of Glen Hansard. We met in Ireland many years ago and he was always nothing but a great musician, a good friend and a generous and gracious man. Always positive, smiling and ready to sing. God bless him and his loved ones. Bruce

Congratulations! @cupescfp.bsky.social local 3484 on a remarkable victory that seemed unattainable just weeks ago. These brave workers, who are predominantly women and whom I am proud to call my colleagues, have put everything on the line to fight for the rights of all of us and our students.

Happy International Women’s Day, esp to CUPE members who have been striking for weeks now. It should be lost on no one that the locals on strike are about 97% women and the reason they need to fight for fairness is because society at large ascribes next to value to the kind of work women do.

8 weeks on the picket line. 8 weeks away from their students. 8 weeks away from their colleagues. They don’t want to be striking. They want to be in schools. But they’re standing up for what’s right and what’s fair. They deserve better than poverty wages. Enough is enough, Danielle. Step up.

As I’ve mentioned, my wife @sdixonpollard.bsky.social is a CUPE 3484 member who went on strike last week. Today, our friend Shawn Raymond paid them a visit and did a few laps. He’s a top community member, pres. of Leduc Pride (+2025 council candidate!) and he’s part of what makes Leduc so great!

@billybragg.bsky.social 6000 Education workers in Alberta are striking because they love their jobs. They love helping kids, keeping schools safe, and making sure classrooms function. But they can’t keep doing it for poverty wages. Hiring scabs and refusing to Bargain in good faith .

@hwinkler4real.bsky.social when I was a little kid my sole wish for Christmas was a Fonzie doll. There’s a photo of me radiating joy as I proudly held the doll, but my happiness was fleeting when our Irish Setter snatched it away and chewed off his head . Happy to be reunited after all these years .
