Had a doctor's appointment today (not a big deal) and had to get some bloodwork done after, but the phlebotomist I usually see wasn't there. Anyway, I had to get poked three times like a human pincushion.

This is why History of Science is so important. Because what the fuck?!?!?
Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.
As someone who went to girls' school, discussing eating disorders is generally awful. My first year there at ten we sat through a surprisingly in-depth assembly about them. It was scarring but also informative.
Disney+ keeps suggesting this to me, and I will fall eventually because they know the kind of nerd I am by what I watch there.
We were watching that silly new Tom Hiddleston reenactment of the disaster of Pompeii and he was like ‘we have amazing new tech that allows us to track people through this disaster’ and I was oh no he’s going to say it’s an AI brain or something and then he said…. ‘Its a spreadsheet’ and I CHEERED
I’ve been writing a counter narrative of shutdowns that has me revisiting media from that time. And let me tell you, the only other option was everybody die. So yeah.
it’s pretty obvious that a lot of people remember that COVID lockdowns were unpleasant and from there just extrapolate that they were therefore bad policy
Thinking again about why no-fault divorce is so important. But am also thinking about how custody agreements decided by family court can leave an abused partner in an awful situation.
every woman has wondered whether her dad would take her side or some man's. many of them have learned the answer and often it's not the answer that you'd assume would be the bare minimum expectation for a father

Having gone through voir dire twice this year tells you how many people know victims of sexual assault and/or IPV.
After three days that took place over nearly two months and two jury selection processes, I'm finally done with jury service for at least the next year. I always end up in the first block of jurors going through voir dire somehow. Lol.
All of this Odyssey stuff makes me want to return to the gentle shores of Austen and Brönte adaptations.

Just talked to my niece who was in Boston this past weekend and saw multiple small children try to yeet themselves into the pond in the Public Gardens where you ride the Swan Boats.

Is The Odyssey (2026) my favorite adaptation of the original text? No, that's a tie between Inside Llewyn Davis and an episode of Wishbone. But it was good, big fun. The rampage scene was so satisfying.
Finally got to talk to my best friend about The Odyssey. We talked a lot about how hot Himesh Patel is.

It's kind of funny that some people are shocked that the thesis of Nolan's The Odyssey is "war is bad." Have they not seen Dunkirk and Oppenheimer?
Me watching The Fellowship of the Ring in 2001: "It must be so painful for Boromir to die by arrow." Me watching The Odyssey in 2026: "I hope that 'suitor' chokes on his own blood after Odysseus sent an arrow into his throat."
Oh, the Vista showed the trailer for Troy (2004) before The Odyssey and there was a lot of laughter. I did laugh even though I saw that movie in theaters when I was studying abroad in London.
That helmet and Penelope's dress pre-rampage were 🤌🏿🤌🏿🤌🏿🤌🏿
Thing I've thought about the most after seeing The Odyssey last night is how Agamemnon Had That Shit On.
It's been so long since I've read The Odyssey that I occasionally thought about certain characters in the movie "I know I hate you, but I can't remember why" before being reminded. Basically Agamemnon deserved every single bit of that smoke.
Going through mother paperwork and now know that she had lawyer friends in charge of things but she failed to ever tell me about any of it.

This is absolutely a movie they would be making in The Studio.
