Knowing that the plastic dinosaurs we played with as kids consisted, to whatever actual extent, of real dinosaurs.
This is going to be fun. Schmoob is currently cutting down 40mins of new music into a 15 minute set, and Iβm providing some moody bookends.
We're celebrating LA Synth Club's 4th Anniversary on Sunday August 30! I'll be performing at 5pm and I'm bringing some modular synths which people can play with at the petting zoo. Common Space Brewery 3411 W El Segundo Blvd, Hawthorne, CA 90250 #Synthsky
Was at the Byrne concert last night at the Hollywood Bowlβ and it really grabs you from whatever seat you are in. Somewhere in his mind he knows how this plays when heβs the tiny animated man far in the distance and constructs a show that kills even at the back of the house.
My hot take (I was there last night) was that it was like watching a charismatic evangelical preacher: trembling hands, odd body jerks, communal singing, messages of love and change. Nick Cave and David Byrne have something similar. (Does it go back to Elvis?)
"It's amazing how quickly people get used to bad quality." - Brian Eno #quote
I'll watch Avengers: Endgame again if they let me fold laundry in the theater.
Mark Peploeβs 1991 film, βAfraid of the Darkβ
Name a weird film more people should watch.
This beautiful owl has been spending her days in the tree in front of our home. Itβs a heat wave, so I put a bowl of water out, but mostly she wanted to be left alone.
Really great Bitwig event yesterday. Iβm a bit weary of learning new software, but watching Bitwig being used in 4 very different ways was a treat. Also learned quite a bit from @3amnoise.net βs in-depth mixing and mastering chain, all built with native tools.
This is shaping up to be a really cool event! More info on the Bitwig website: www.bitwig.com/stories/bitw... #synthsky
Totally changing my appraisal of The Great Muppet Caper as a fun and silly film I loved as a kid, to a landmark quirky work of comedic excellence and a real cinematic flex. The film plays so differently as an adult β some of the most clever and consistent 4th wall breaks, and my godβ bicycle scene!
Happy to say blanketforts and I are taking our experimental improv set LABBYNG to the Cal Arts Experiments in Electronic Sound festival in Sept. eesf.calarts.edu/eesf26-conce...

Marvelous technology that canβt do what CDs, tapes, and vinyl did wellβ play one song seamlessly into the next. Streaming is just feeding you bonbons, but rarely a meal.
A pressing issue: why are vinyl albums becoming so different from their digital versions?
First practice session for LABBYNG, an improvised set blanket forts and I are playing in Sept. I have waaaay too many things on my side of the table.
dubnobass > second toughest > beaucoup fish color of spring > spirit of eden > laughing stock Meddle> darkside> wish you were here more songs > fear of music > remain in the light Campfire > tomorrowβs harvest > inferno
What's the best three album run from a band? (the correct answer is Moving Pictures, Signals, and Grace Under Pressure by Rush, but I'm excited to learn second place)
Caught a beautiful 35mm print of The Truman Show tonight. Such a clever and subversive film that has aged really well. Unsure if it inspired all the crazy flat earther lore, or was reacting to it. Weir can direct so many kinds of film well. And a powerful minute of Phillip Glassβs Mishima soundtrack
You donβt want hands free driving, you want trains. You want trains you want trains you want TRAINS
The first show that really blew my mind. Weird, wonky, lovely thing.
Alex Cox on THE PRISONER and the Genius of Patrick McGoohan πΊ Watch all 17 episodes of the landmark 1960s television series! This is the first in Criterionβs new YouTube series of 5 introductions to THE PRISONER by Cox, writer, director and author of I AM (NOT) A NUMBER: DECODING THE PRISONER (2018)
If I had to describe the heart and soul of Bluesky it would the following: a guy who didnβt actually read Emily Wilsonβs review of Nolanβs Odyssey movie defending it against a guy who didnβt actually watch Nolanβs Odyssey movie
Saturday had some beautiful clouds in Pasadena. I did not color Correct this at all.
100%. Would be surprised if it was not referenced extensively during development.
My main Andor thought is that folks who dug it would absolutely adore Army of Shadows.
Nolanβs dialogue tracks are just fine if your overall levels peak at 108 db. This was at the Dolby, and Iβve heard itβs very loud in 70mm IMAX as well.
For Godβs sake, be economical with your lamps and candles! not a gallon you burn, but at least one drop of manβs blood was spilled for it.
Much like the worst meal youβve ever eatenβ you donβt send it back, you shamefully consume the whole thing. For me, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I would have gladly walked out, but I was in the center of one of first few rows at the Cineramadome in Hollywood.
