Lib Dem Councillor for Bicester East on Oxfordshire County Council 🧡

Oxon Lib Dems are helping children get the best start in life: 📈 Expanding support for families to help local parents 🎯 Setting a higher target for improvement than the Labour govt wanted 🤝 Supporting voluntary family centres with rent levels that reflect the social value of the work they do

I bumped into a Children’s Trust Board colleague at the weekend who was being made Lord Mayor of Oxford this week, he suggested I come along to the ceremony, I’m glad I did, it was very impressive, huge congrats Chewe, I think you’re going to be fab 👏👏👏

That’s 100’s of doors knocked on in Bicester East today, we’ve had a very impressive and committed team of candidates and supporters all over Bicester working the campaign trail very hard today. I’m very grateful for the many supportive comments from residents today which helps you keep pushing on 🧡

Oxfordshire County Council Cabinet member for Adult Social Care Tim Bearder has sent a strongly worded letter to the government over the impact of proposed immigration changes on care services, warning that this means fewer services at higher cost, putting care services at risk.

We were delighted to join partners at the official opening of Fern Meadows in Faringdon – a brand‑new extra care housing scheme helping people aged 55+ live independently, with care and support on hand when needed. Watch the video below to meet some of the residents and see inside 👇

Huge thanks to everyone who has these garden posters on display - I’m really hopeful that we can get Bryonie on to the Bicester East Team where the only thing we will be discussing is how to support you, using the collective might of Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council 🙏☺️🧡

It’s been a busy few weeks. I’ve spoken at the Health and Wellbeing Board about the need for our domestic abuse service to be meaningfully effective. I’ve attempted to explain the 90% SEND deficit write off at Cabinet and I’ve spoken at Full Council in support of Bicester East works and projects.

A bit further forwards on the Launton Road pedestrian crossing today, although much further away still than I’d like to be, we keep going! Progress is being made on the flooding under the Bicester North rail bridge. And I spoke in support of more work to keep our pavements looking clean and tidy 🧹🫧🧡

Good campaigning session in Bicester East today. Lots came up on the doorstep, but mostly potholes. I’ve been able to explain to residents that we are moving into a ‘recovery’ phase now that the weather has dried, we plan to throw everything at this and get caught up. You will see activity near you.

🔶 The Lib Dem budget has passed! 🔶 Today, Oxfordshire County Council has agreed the first fully Liberal Democrat budget. We couldn’t be prouder of what’s been achieved 🧡

Spoke with BBC Berkshire this week ref fostering. We have an amazing fostering service in Oxfordshire that is not unique in needing more foster carers. I’m grateful that the BBC continue to cover this story.

A key part of local campaigning is growing the team. We’ve successfully recruited 3 deliverers and 1 bundler for Team East Ward today. If you would like to get more involved yourself, we would love to hear from you 🤝🥇🧡

We’re really lucky in Bicester East that one of our neighbours is the published author Nigel Collett. It was a fab evening having been invited to the launch of his latest work ‘The Dream of Magnus Maximus’. I’m looking forward to reading it now.
