It seems like Bruce Harrell just didn’t care if his top police officials (Sayles was appointed as a highly unusual second deputy chief by Barnes) put down roots here and live in the state full time. Barnes and Sayles both have their permanent homes in the Midwest.

The thing is that being a more informed voter just feels so great! And most voters don’t vote because they are overwhelmed with the research needed to make an informed decision!

I just voted using @electioncheatsheet.org! been voting since mom brought me to ballot box as a toddler & I punched holes @ big machine … not sure if I am more informed but it does feel damn good to use the website to see endorsements all at once! I didn’t even agree with it all! But it was cool.😎

Like any community, we're allowed to disagree, debate, and bring different politics, priorities, experiences, class & gender dynamics, and visions for the future. None of that makes anyone less authentically Black. A community of 52,000 people isn't required to think alike, and shouldn't have to.

There are more than 52,000 Black people in Seattle. That's larger than the population of 255 cities in Washington. So can we please stop talking about "the Black community" as though it's a monolith?
