#LGBTQWriteAThon June 26 I've been lucky to work with some absolutely amazing artists for my books so far, but I do have a dream cover artist for The Bird and the Blade once I finally finish it! @thistlearts.bsky.social does such beautiful work and it would be a dream for him to do the cover! 💛

‘The Oak King and the Holly King’ linocut print. ‘The Holly King and Oak King represent the winter and summer in folklore and mythological traditions. The two kings engage in endless “battle” reflecting the seasonal cycles of the year: not only solar light and dark, but also crop renewal and growth.

An illustrated linocut print of the Oak King and Holly King. The Oak King at the top in orange represents the summer months, his head is covered in oak leaves and he’s surrounded by wheat. The Holly King in turquoise below represents the winter months, bare knotted twigs create a crown on his head and he’s surprised by winter foliage.
