In Connecticut, the ripples of pain and trauma from 9/11 are endless. Kids who grew up without a mom or dad. Communities that lost countless neighbors in an instant. Scores of first responders who returned home with wounds that endured. Here, we will never forget.

Before 9/11, we dealt with the horrific loss in Oklahoma — a terrorist attack committed by a White Christian, a homeless veteran. Folk need to check themselves when they resort to automatic collective judgment. We didn't blame all Christians or all veterans back then... cuz we knew better.
The emotional barriers that someone needs to put up to avoid this truth. We all protect ourselves from uncomfortable facts. As a public servant, you follow the law, not your feelings.
