A.i. use is addictive. That's exactly what the euphoria he describes sounds like. It doesn't free up time to spend on other things, in encroaches on your time by making you want to use it more. I've had multiple clients who use A.i. describe this exactly, and their work-life balance is in shambles.

If you ever feel unqualified, remember that a gang of billionaires spent $900 million for 60,000 acres with no water, no infrastructure, a roster of endangered species, and a voter-approved ordinance that specifically bans building a city there. Now they’re begging politicians to bail them out.

Looks like Gavin Newsom is going to bat for California Forever, the Network State "tech utopia" project backed by Marc Andreessen and other tech billionaires. 70% of local residents oppose it. But the billionaires hired Newsom's favorite lobbyist. Welcome to Sacramento. nypost.com/2026/07/29/u...

it's difficult to convey to someone who hasn't lived near wildfires how it feels. it's like being in a horror movie if you walk out your front door. neighborhood silent except for dogs baying at the sound of distant sirens, air hazy, sky tinged slightly red, smell of smoke thick in the air.

do I think there's a secret progressive wing in America just waiting to show themselves? no I don't. do I think a lot of Americans don't actually understand what right/center/left means? yeah I do. many Americans have mixed bag beliefs.

All this talk about the early, terrifying days of Covid .. and I couldn't help but look back at a project I worked on at the time. We memorialized the lives of people who ran into the burning building. Time well spent and worth a moment of yours: www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-i...

So I wrote a much longer thing explaining why Minnesota's anti-nudify tech law, while it might be well meaning, is TERRIBLY DRAFTED in a manner that almost guarantees it will be thrown out, giving Elon Musk a win. But also, I don't understand WHY MN legislators wrote such a bad law...

Read the post for the details, but Minnesota's Supreme Court literally wrote out a roadmap for how to make a law like this stick when it said that MN's earlier law against disseminating nonconsensual intimate imagery survived strict scrutiny. Yet MN's legislators appeared to ignore...

... literally every single aspect of what MN's Supreme Court said. And I honestly don't understand why. The end result is incredibly counterproductive. MN could have written a better law and appears to have deliberately chosen not to. And that's only going to help Elon.

sometimes it just really floors me that a lot of American Evangelicals are out here literally trying to force humanity into global suicide, but don't worry about it because THEY won't die, they'll just get plucked up by God so they can watch the rest of us suffer with popcorn
