Never broken a bone. Mercator’s projection deplorer, Grice’s maxims supporter. Anti- (from Latin, ‘against,’ in case anyone’s confused) fascist army vet in The Land of Enchantment. Bokononist. Protect trans kids! 🇺🇸 🇮🇹 🇦🇷 🇸🇮 🇵🇱 🇧🇬 🏳️‍⚧️ 🇺🇸 🌶️

Today my Prussian bride decided to start calling roadrunners (Geococcyx californianus) “desert chickens,” and it reminded me of the importance of never not being posting roadrunner content.

A modestly sized North American ground cuckoo sitting on the ridgepole of my shed, which contains only evidence of my failures. The roadrunner looks defiant, and the foliage behind them is nearly yellow in the Albuquerque evening.

“Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.” Man, Aristotle better know what he’s talking about because it’s gonna need to feel like I’m mainlining high fructose corn syrup.

Climbed up Albuquerque’s Volcán volcano and glassed the mesa with 8x42 binos. Despite hazy atmosphere/lousy visibility, M was able to pinpoint Carol Sturka’s Pluribus cul-de-sac set. It was sitting right there the whole time.

A desert landscape with crumbly dark volcano shoulder at left. In the distance the Sandía Ridge fades into heat haze. Midway between is a shitty red circle showing the location of Carol Sturka’s fictional neighborhood in Vince Gilligan’s TV show Pluribus.

Tried to chat up a guy wearing this awesome "The Beths" shirt and he wanted no part of my Beths enthusiasm. Nor did his wife. Shut me down. Did I come in hot? Maybe. But if you're wearing a Beths shirt you should be prepared.
