🔥 New in IJWF: Charles et al. show that satellite-derived fire maps can underestimate fire frequency, particularly in infrequently burnt areas. Integrating public land fire histories and environmental data improved landscape-scale estimates. 🔗 doi.org/10.1071/WF25... #IJWildlandFire
60 days. That’s it. 60 days to send a clear message that America is done with the affordability crisis, the endless war, and a Congress that keeps choosing chaos over healthcare. The energy is there. The polls are moving. Now we finish it. #BlueWaveIn60Days #VoteBlue
Renewable Energy is cheaper than oil. Renewable Energy is more securely available than oil.

So it looks like we will blow past 1.5˚C of warming. Some "overshoot" beyond this goal is now looking inevitable. But can we realistically return the planet to less than 1.5˚C of warming? Maybe, but I have my doubts about some of the proposed pathways to do so.

A "hidden" environmental problem ripe for action. The oil industry needs to pollute our land and water with their wastewater to keep drilling. open.substack.com/pub/heated/p...
Oil executives just accidentally exposed the industry’s greatest weakness
To keep drilling, Big Oil needs permission to dump treated fracking wastewater into rivers and onto cropland. We don’t have to give it to them.

I have two friends in Sweden 🇸🇪 and they have never complained about how the system works there…..
“DON’T PANIC,” RIGHT? Fine. Don’t panic. ORGANIZE. 📌 A USPS whistleblower is warning the mail-ballot system could face “catastrophic failure” before the midterms. Make your voting plan now. Vote early, in person, or use a secure drop box. Don’t leave your vote to chance.
This baby hearing a violin for the very first time… Pure, uncut wonder. The little one looks like he’s witnessing a miracle. Original post
While the longtime incumbent prevailed, @patrickroath.bsky.social and his campaign have much to be proud of. Now, we turn the page. Democratic voters don’t need to agree on every candidate or every strategy – we need to unify and defeat fascism.
Thank you to Patrick Roath for running a people-powered campaign that inspired so many of us to believe politics can work for everyone. We’re very proud of Indivisibles in MA-08 for nearly overcoming a 25-year corporate-backed incumbent to push Patrick closer to the finish line.
An El Niño-induced coastally-trapped Kelvin wave will likely raise water levels about 9-14 inches (relative to 1993-2025 averages) along the California coast in early October. Water temperatures will also increase. The sudden increase will be as much as “the entire climate change anomaly in one go”
El Niño-driven wave to raise California sea levels by a foot — in weeks
A slow-moving wave driven by El Niño is creeping up the coast of North America and should hit California within weeks.

Protecting Science from Government Intimidation
In an era where people can easily publish ideas and find an audience online, how much damage can a travel and immigration policy actually do to the integrity of science and industry? Lots.

In almost half of states, Canada is the largest source of imports by value. In 15 states, imports from Canada made up at least 25% of the 2025 total. But I'm sure these tariffs will be great. www.ctinsider.com/columnist/ar...
I will always love Dolly Parton for this… “Of course Black lives matter. Do we think our little white asses are the only ones that matter? No.”
Poverty is a policy choice. Concentrated wealth is a policy choice. Inequality is a policy choice. None of it is natural or inevitable. Remember: We have the power to build a system that serves the many, not the powerful few.
Why do I plead nonstop for more people to talk about global warming and its relationship to the choice to burn fossil fuels on social media? This is why: Five fossil fuel lobbyists spent $553,000 on Meta ads in August, the renewables industry just $3,090. reneweconomy.com.au/outgunned-fi...
Outgunned: Five fossil fuel lobbyists spent $553,000 on Meta ads in August, the renewables industry just $3,090
Fossil fuel lobbyists are flooding social media with ads, outgunning the minimal effort of the renewables industry, which is leaving the work to cash-strapped NGOs.

A reminder for Corporate Democrats: New research from Yale found that Medicare for All would save over 114,000 lives and $1 trillion a year. It's no surprise why the majority of Americans — including 90% of Democratic voters — support it.
