Never forget that they had to spend trillions of dollars, build massive data centers, consume millions of galloons of water and insane amounts of electricity, just to kind of do what you can do better with your imagination and a cup of coffee. That's how envious they are of what you can do.

I don’t believe a college education is supposed to be job training. Also, does this mean no more loans for teaching degrees? Because plumbers make quite a bit more than I do down here in Louisiana.

Physical books. You own them. They don't require updates. They don't surveil you or collect and sell your data. They are a genuinely safe hallucinogen that leaves you smarter and more empathetic and with a longer attention span the more you use them. Free from the library. What's not to like?

Employees at Scientific American were told today that the magazine has been sold to LabX Media Group, the outfit that runs Discover Magazine and IFLScience. And that means -- of course! -- editorial layoffs. The media mass extinction rolls ever onward.

I do love that AI inadvertently confirms that our brains work like a muscle, too — use it or lose it. In this way relying on AI is like using a robot to lift weights, like running a marathon in a Honda Civic. You get nothing out of it.

A week or so ago, I was looking for a couple books by an author from 10 and 15 years ago and my library didn't have them. I requested them via a library form. Today I got a notification in Libby that they purchased both titles. Asking your library for writers' books is an amazing way to support us.
