The Little Orphan Annie comic strip premiered on August 5, 1924. Created by Harold Gray, who took its name from the poem Little Orphant Annie by James Whitcomb Riley. It ran from 1924 to 2010, & spawned films, a Broadway play, a radio show, comic books & more.
