It's very funny to me how NIMBY the Pearl is when this whole neighborhood didn't exist in 2000. If the Pearl NIMBYs were here back then and got their way, the Pearl wouldn't exist.

I’m the chronically online transit nerd who went out and started operating trains - My views and opinions do not represent those of my employer. I don’t know why people would assume that, but in the interest of keeping my job, it’s here.
Cry more NIMBYs. We will build housing for people who want to live in Portland, and there’s nothing you can do about it. www.oregonlive.com/opinion/2026...

Ignoring that this story isn’t even newsworthy, it’s very funny that every reaction I’ve seen to this story is agreeing with his old tweets. Even on the Portland subreddit, which is very much not an ACAB/progressive place, the reaction is basically “and he was right to say it.”
Councilor Mitch Green said he regrets the since-deleted tweets. “That's not how I engage in discourse today,” he said. https://mrf.lu/2zjmT
Very happy to report that the extra lane ODOT added to 217 has fixed traffic
A lot of y’all were out today catching that one last ride on the full green line
Good to see TriMet mobilizing and educating riders about where the blame lies for these upcoming service cuts. “Funding TriMet should be a top funding priority for our region.”
So we wasted 20 years twiddling our thumbs wondering how to preserve an abandoned warehouse only for it to burn down.
You mean to tell me the predatory loan guy is trying to scam us and probably still move the team even if we give him the money? Wow, that’s so uncharacteristic for that kind of guy!
Portland Trail Blazers officials told city councilors the city needs to do more than just help fund a renovation of the Moda Center if it wants to assure the Blazers’ long-term presence in Oregon.
Me when I’m done operating the MAX and I go home to play Train Sim
it's 4pm! done with my infrastructure day job. time for my infrastructure hobby
periodic reminder that portland has the coolest flag and all other cities are inferior
A denial of the master plan won’t prevent the Lloyd Center from closing, but it would delay plans for the center’s redevelopment
First time testifying? Wondering what to say, or how this whole thing works? Check out our testimony guide at dontsavelloyd.com/testify/
All the way up in Brush Prairie, really? They really said “come to our transit union picnic. No, you can’t take transit there.”
Not to badmouth my union but like …..
Fun fact! If the MAX misses a signal in center city, it’ll usually take two light cycles for the train to get another signal. Each light cycle is almost exactly one minute, so that’s a two minute delay if a train misses a signal. This is why you shouldn’t hold the doors on a train.
San Diego fell from 5th to 12th most expensive rental market by building more multifamily housing per capita than any other California city. This is what happens when you actually build. The lesson isn't complicated. www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2026/05/13/s...
they call it Greater Idaho because rn Idaho kinda sucks so adding eastern Oregon would improve it a lot
I like the planters. We should do this with more bike lanes.
From JT Flowers (Albina Vision Trust, TriMet board member) Instagram: He’s proposing to extend service cuts to August 2027 and a bunch of other good stuff!
First time I see a Waymo in Portland and it’s driving around a traffic filter on Flanders.
I was right. All remaining Type 1s are tagged as ready for decommissioning. The event last Saturday really was the last time any of us would see a Type 1 on the mainline.
Without getting into detail, I think the type 1s are done at this point. If you like them, I’d definitely go to the event next Saturday. I’m guessing that’ll be the last time we see one outside of the yard.
Nobody forced these people to live in the principal city of a large metro area. They chose to live in the city, and then start complaining any time city things happen near them.
Watching some of the testimonies from the IE4A council meeting and it’s amazing how many homeowners turn into complete crybabies when there’s a chance they might have to see *shudders* apartments in their neighborhood.

Don’t get me wrong, I have good memories of Lloyd, and I will miss what it once was, but its time has come. The mall was never going to recover to what it once was. Even if it could’ve, a mall is a terrible use for 20-ish blocks of city center real estate.
The Lloyd Center will close for good on August 8th www.bizjournals.com/portland/new...
Ignoring most of the article to say that it’s so funny that Maywood Park is an actual city with an actual mayor. The place is literally smaller than most neighborhoods in Portland.
The unanimous string of endorsements for Brim-Edwards are notable because county chairs past have had at best delicate, and at worst tumultuous, relationships with Multnomah County’s mayors.
Crazy what Fred Durst from limp bizkit is looking like these days.
