Literally just trying to vibe Urban planning enthusiast and public transit employee (opinions are 100% my own and not of my employer) Theoretically a leftist Portland, OR // he/him

TriMet uses AI to put their employees in brownface by the way! I know the employee in question and he is a white man, and looks like he was AI prompted to be Latino/combined with one of my other old coworkers who is Latino

Donald Trump is an absolutely vile racist. Trump: “The Somalians should not be allowed to get away with what they are doing. They view you as weak and stupid people. Fight back Minnesota, fight back!”

Trump: The once Great State of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali Immigrants. There is Violence, Murder, and Mayhem all over the State. The people of Minnesota must fight back. You have been robbed, and abandoned by your State Government. Your Governor is an incompetent thief who doesn't want to get involved. He just wants to get out of town with as much as he can steal, and then, lead a quiet life. The Somalians should not be allowed to get away with what they are doing. They view you as weak and stupid people. Fight back Minnesota, fight back!
If you need, the Federal Government will come to your rescue.
Governor Tim Walz, and Mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, must immediately ask for Federal help — and leave the rest to us! President

Obviously Christine Drazan is not the answer and I will not be voting for her, but I gotta say, after waiting 2 hours on the phone for Oregon unemployment for a job that failed to be funded by the state, while simultaneously walking past a bunch of unhoused people on the sidewalk,

Every time I use the all gender restroom at PDX, I hear people freaked out that it’s for everyone and I really don’t understand why it’s such a big deal. The bathrooms are way nicer than the gendered ones

This is large scale disenfranchisement and now SCOTUS has even less excuse not to reject Trump's EO on mail voting. Allowing him to move forward would have clear negative harms to voters that could not be reversed, even as his claim for authority over voting processes is legally dubious.

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.

If anyone in the Portland area has any leads on a job please let me know 🙏 I have a ton of customer service experience, currently don’t have a college degree, and am open to working retail/food service

this is not a defense (i'll block the first person who responds as if explanation is endorsement), but the neighborhood bar/restaurant owners i know are really, really fucking tired of the constant street hassle they and their patrons deal with, and this is the group reaching out to them

Pretty disappointed to see a handful of notable Portland restaurants lend their name to the latest “Portland business chamber in sheep’s clothing” PAC. props for how breathlessly they repeat the word “progressive” in their rhetoric to justify their plan of tax cuts and more cops www.goportlandgo.org

:( (i still think getting rid of the green line to downtown is better than many other cuts, and a lot of thought was put into connecting bus lines, but it still sucks heavily)

Friendly reminder that employees of t**met have been screwed over so bad also…I love knowing I’m going to be unemployed next month with no specific date and everyone I know getting rejected to be an internal hire for bus driver

I think the Lloyd Center redevelopment is a good thing and cities change, but I went today and it is was good seeing everyone there, and I’m sad that malls have died in favor of Amazon.

Nationwide, people are screaming at elected leaders at all levels of government to fight for them. Fight for our rights, fight for our future, fight for the things that we need to survive and thrive. Last night, more than half the city council decided the expedient move was to roll over.

Multnomah County Chair Vega Pederson hired Chris Oxley to lead their negotiations on the Moda Center renovation. Oxley formerly worked for the Blazers and currently serves as Board President at Sport Oregon, a nonprofit that has been lobbying for public funding of the Moda Center renovation.

unfathomable that the city is being asked to hand over four hundred million bucks with virtually no information on what the blazers are planning to spend it on - and that the loudest proponents of the deal are the councilors and business leaders who otherwise complain the city is poorly managed

I think it's really important that the public understand what the city's true commitment is because we keep saying and hearing $120M over 20 years, but it's really closer to $400 million. It makes sense for us to not pre-commit especially given that we're operating blind with no information.
