The only debate around McConnell was whether he was dead or not, rather than the fact he clearly hasn’t been fit to serve his constituents for several years. Whether we admit it or not, this is because we see electeds as deserving political celebrities and not as executioners of the public will.
The Mitch McConnell saga demonstrates how little we actually value representative democracy. He has been obviously unable to speak a sentence for 3 months. Prior to that, over the last few years he had to be whisked off stage multiple times for freezing. He is still going to finish out his term.

Both Putin and Trump want to end competitive elections, the rule of law and individual rights, so they can rob from the taxpayers and enrich themselves and their friends without any consequences.
We never punished the people who authorized torture and the last 20+ years of our politics are a consequence of that.

None of this covers the real real reason. Twenty years ago, gigs were cheap promotional tools to sell expensive records. Now most people listen to music via streaming and don't buy it, records are free promotional tools for expensive gig tickets.

Bush is responsible for at least an order of magnitude more suffering in the world than Trump has "accomplished" (at least so far.) White Americans tend to think W wasn't as bad as Trump because his policies mostly led to mass death, torture & worse "over there"
