One of my fave things in York Minster: a medieval wren stalking a spider. It reminds me that history isn't only kings and battles. Someone, centuries ago, found joy in the same things we still notice today. It's a reminder of how much we have in common over our differences.

3/3 The Talbot Trail through Sudbury is a series of posts describing events in the town's colourful history. The one outside the Town Hall remembers 101 Dalmatians, and provides a pleasing counterpoint to the Talbot on the town crest.

In 1924, the year this picture of the Grand Canyon was painted, Gunnar Widforss exhibited a large group of works depicting scenes from US National Parks. An art critic at the time considered Widforss as 'possibly the greatest watercolorist in America today.'
