"Crops chase sunlight, so roofing a field with panels ought to starve them. Yet plot after plot came in with more fruit, not less, & the plants looked healthier than the ones baking in the open. Stranger still, the shaded rows did it while drinking far less water." energiesmedia.com/solar-panels...

American farmers slid solar panels over 62,000 acres of farmland, and the biggest payoff had almost nothing to do with electricity

Long rows of solar panels march across the desert, and underneath them, where the ground should be baked and bare, there are rows of green.

Sometimes I find funny graphics, and I just drop them in a folder for some future science activity. I think I should just make a whole thing about "bad graphics." Just found this old image!

This is so funny to me. People suggesting robots could replace teachers have probably never met a teenager before. Or maybe, the fact these are built on s3xbot frames might make students pay attention.

Crayfish are so metal! We do a crayfish project where students dissect a specimen and learn about crayfish ecology. www.biologycorner.com/2024/06/19/t...

The Crayfish Project – Ecology and Anatomy

Student project on crayfish which includes learning about crayfish ecology, invasive species, and food webs. Dissect a crayfish specimen to learn anatomy!

🦞🥬🥕🐸 An #invasive crayfish that clones itself, survives droughts, eats almost anything - even cannibalize its own juveniles! In fragile semi-arid habitats, this flexibility may be exactly what makes an invader so hard to stop. Check out our new #NeoBiota paper: neobiota.pensoft.net/article/1830...

Microscope image of osteocytes. This is one of my favorite mini-labs. After students learn about bone tissue, we take the last 20 minutes of class to view bone tissue under a microscope. You can see the osteocytes in concentric circles with the Haversian canal in the center.

This is great! The ribosomes are so boring, and just hang around the cell, kanoodling with the endoplasmic reticulum. This is definitely something to add to their resume. Now to write a case study based on the nature article!
