Welcome to the madness. Be prepared for politics, dad jokes, puns, and analytical shenanigans. You’ve been warned. Buckle up.

And this is true for all sides. If you're hoping a progressive or a moderate loses a general election because you don't want to validate that side of the coalition, you're not taking beating Republicans seriously enough. We just need to win as big a victory as possible.

I believe this 100%. The moral injury of the period, the grief from not just the too and so many deaths but the kinds of lives we had before, the laying bare of disposability, the non covid deaths it sped, the institutional strain, the collective fear and distrust, the prioritization of work anyway

One of my Crank Theories of Everything, at least of Everything in the Recent Past, is that we are dealing (badly) with COVID trauma we’d mostly prefer to pretend never happened.

As I've said before: What high-paying long-term jobs do they pretend exist here? A data center isn't a place where execs come and do Big Deals. Go to the server room at your workplace; are there lots of rich people in there spending money?

Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."

Vote Beat: After Mark Wayne Mullin stated that Pennsylvania “MAY HAVE” more than 14,000 non-citizens registered to vote, the PA Sec of Commonwealth asked for evidence, methodology, and data source. “How exactly do you know that ? Markwayne Mullin got nothing to say.

I'm old enough to remember when polio put my friends into iron lungs. We dutifully lined up at school to get vaccinated. We eradicated the disease. We protected the common good and saved lives. What RFK Jr. is doing to public health in America is a disgrace.

If the entire Democratic Party is being asked by the press and pundits about a few DSA candidates in NYC, it seems like the entire Republican Party should be asked about their colleague who has been credibly accused -- by another colleague's daughter -- of repeated acts of violence.

This is a good reminder that some "voluntary" departures people sign while detained by ICE are the product of coercion. The worst incidents I've heard of over the years involve agents grabbing a person's hands and forcing them to sign a piece of paper they can't read; it's a "voluntary" removal.

Senator Patty Murray@murray.senate.gov · last wk.

ICE agents threatened to beat up a Seattle small business owner, married to a citizen, with NO criminal record unless he signed a "voluntary" departure. I'm told there were cameras in the room. I'm demanding any video and that Eduardo be brought home immediately.

Outstanding insight into likely effects of student visa time limits on study and post-study training. Other countries will absorb some, but not all of the talent. The setback to scientific progress will concentrate in the US but will be global in scope and have lasting if not permanent effects.

Michael Clemens@mclem.org · last wk.

The US Administration just restricted the duration of student visas. What's the problem? Now political appointees have full discretion to block most international students from staying after graduation. They've promised to use their new power to do just that. My new @piie.com post explains—>

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appoints state AG Ashley Moody to the US Senate. She turns around and approves $10 million to Hope Florida, FRAUDULENTLY diverting money from Medicaid to a non-profit for his wife, Casey DeSantis, to spend on 2024 elections. www.cbsnews.com/miami/news/f...

Florida Senator Ashley Moody faces renewed scrutiny over her role in Hope Florida scandal

As Florida attorney general, it was Moody and her office that approved the diversion of $10 million of taxpayer money to the Hope Florida Foundation

Netanyahu tried to convince U.S. Presidents to start a war with Iran for two decades. All of them were too smart to do it - until we Americans finally elected a guy dumb enough to do it and emboldened enough to ignore all of his advisors who warned him not to. We need to blame ourselves.

Israel suckered Donald Trump into an illegal war, wasting precious resources. At least 13 of our bases rendered 'uninhabitable', at least 45 aircraft destroyed, much of our best missiles wasted on cheap drones. We have no endgame,no strategy. Trump is enriching his defense buddies though. We lost.

The White House Correspondents Dinner is a great example of institutional accommodation to Trump and its payoff - which is a loss of credibility. Trump will no longer be mocked there, but will instead attack journalists both with his speech and using government power.

NBC's kristen welker was caught laughing it up with Stephen Miller. Stephen Miller who architected the family separation policy. Stephen Miller who pushed the Muslim travel ban. Stephen Miller who oversaw the killing of Americans by ICE agents. This is why independent media is crucial.
