Writer and Executive Producer. New books: Mermicorno Starfall: Game On DC Super Hero Girls High School Reunion Out now: Mermicorno, Monster High, DC Super Hero Girls, Wonder Woman, Polly Pocket. Kenzie's Kingdom, Batman: Overdrive.

Things that are still the same: People (usually men) saying as a real gotcha: “If it’s DC Super Hero GIRLS, why is Beast Boy there?” I dunno, why is there literally any other character in a book called Batman? Are titles supposed to be fully inclusive of every character?

I have a lot to say about the Cornell case, but I'm largely keeping it on the inside, since I'll be honest: I find it triggering. But I have one specific ask: parents, talk to your sons. Talk to them and make sure they understand accountability. Talk to them about consent. Do it now.

My latest DC Super Hero Girls graphic novel was released this year. The one prior was released in 2019. The first one was released in 2016. The way the industry has changed in ten years is absolutely stunning. First, the comics journalism/review landscape is completely different. Most (if not all)

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

If you're putting together an NYCC panel, and need an animation writer/executive producer, a kid's graphic novel writer, or (god forbid) a "woman in comics," I am those things and I have some availability in my schedule. (Also, please don't ask me to be on a "women in comics" panel.)

Heads up, Bookworms: There will likely be💀supply chain issues💀 this holiday season. So if there are specific books you have your heart set on for holiday gifting, I strongly suggest you buy/order them ahead of time (✨like now✨) rather than waiting until November/December.

Hey artist friends -- what is the most economical drawing tablet situation that would work along side a MacBook Air? It would be primarily for me in my producer-type roles to note on art/boards, in which I often need to draw circles or arrows around things in an image.

The Beat needs an EXPERIENCED writer/editor to help us with our NYCC coverage. This requires staying at home and helping post stories and report news. There is pay but it is small, but it is only 5 days work. To be clear, this is a WEB WRITING JOB not video - dm or email w/clips heidi @ comicsbeat

If you are putting together NYCC panels and want a panelist who has written early reader and middle grade graphic novels and/or has written and executive produced kids animation (Monster High, Mermicorno, Polly Pocket), hit me up! I would love to do more panels while I am there.

PSA: No Kings is a coalition, not an org, and it does not do fundraising appeals for itself. Partner orgs raise money for costs we're incurring to put it on. But if you get a text from "NO KINGS" or a PAC you've never heard of before asking for $ that is a scam and you should block/shame away.

a Sunday reminder for Washingtonians out there Washington is the only state where a MAJORITY of the state Supreme Court is on the ballot, all at once a very rare situation no party label on the ballot but candidates are still aligned with parties! important to learn: boltsmag.org/your-state-b...

“When Obama said he supported civil unions in the run-up to the 2008 and 2012 elections, he was offering gay people a slower pace of progress. When Democrats today triangulate on transgender rights, they are offering us a slower pace of decline.”

When Democrats attempt to triangulate on trans rights, it's my sense that many liberals and people in politics don't understand why many trans people are so upset. I wrote about the differences between then and now, what trans people have lost, and what we still stand to lose

me: hi gimme a large pizza pizza guy: any appetizers? me: what do you have? pizza guy: we've got fried cheese with no sauce or crust, crust with no cheese or sauce, and crust and cheese with no sauce me: gimme crust and cheese with no sauce pizza guy: and for your dip? me: sauce

With a full body cringe, I just remembered when teenage me was in a scholarship interview circa 2002 and was asked what leader I admired and I said, "Rudy Giuliani!" Thank goodness we can change and evolve and become horribly embarrassed by our past.
