Mike Lee's SCREEN Act, which heads to Senate Commerce Committee for markup on Wednesday, would expand age verification requirements to a nearly limitless scope of websites, and is supported by the architects of Project 2025.

If SCREEN were to pass, you'd be required to scan your face and upload an ID to access this site because it allows "harmful" material. This affects you even if you don't care about sex work or porn.

If the SCREEN Act passes, Patreon creators could lose everything. I have already been forced to submit my government ID and a photo of my face to Patreon last year to continue to make money on the platform. I can't count on every one of my patrons doing the same in order to continue supporting me.

What can you do? CALL. WRITE. SCREAM. The bill is up for a vote THIS WEDNESDAY. Call your Senator. Dem. Republican. Whomever. Right now, it's a solid R bill, but they're looking for Dems to take it across the finish line. Let them know how badly it stinks. www.defendonlineprivacy.com/screen/

Defend Online Privacy: Stop the SCREEN Act!

The Senate Commerce Committee will vote on the SCREEN Act on August 5. ACT NOW to stop it!

It will be worse than this! Most websites will be forced to ask you to send your ID to a third party surveillance service, adding a credit card won't be enough for most. Bluesky asks for your *social security number* if you live in Texas now, due to this shit. Call in, and kill it.

This will be the US if the SCREEN Act passes. Call your Senators before August 5 and tell them that you oppose the SCREEN Act, KOSA, and the KIDS Act. Use the official lookup tool at www.senate.gov/senators/sen... to find yours by state.

"what can I do?" Call your reps and tell them to vote no on the Online Safety bill package because things will get worse the more censorship laws are allowed to pass. Tell your reps that payment processors must allow legal content. Go yell at youtube for their shitty TOS.

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.

The Diarrhea Lettuce Company Has Been Linked to Forced Labor

The lettuce-producing Taylor Farms was linked to the widespread use of prison labor before its involvement in a cyclospora outbreak.

Much as I love the experience of being in trance, I’ve come to really appreciate that moment while awakening when your head starts to clear and you realize just how deeply hypnotized and controlled you were. 🌀💜

The Pentagon's scheme to cut off public access to unclassified documents would let the federal government avoid public accountability. "While its latest move has drawn relatively little attention, it may pose the greatest systemic threat to accountability," writes @freedom.press’ @LaurenHarper.

Opinion | Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon secrecy push threatens access to unclassified records

Lauren Harper: The Pentagon’s proposal to Congress would bypass FOIA’s transparency requirements and give the military sweeping powers to withhold nearly all unclassified information.

The terms "noncon" and "dubcon" are sometimes criticized as being a cover for rape, but using those terms is very much setting up parameters of play. “This is intended to be a sexy BDSM scenario, not a serious or thoughtful exploration of sexual assault.“ Meet the narrative where it's at!

as a fan of noncon, dubcon and under/non-negotiated cnc this is honestly one of the most straightforward explanations of this i've ever read?

Sneaking into a college party and spiking all the drinks with hypno-juice until everyone's at my command You'd think I'd be doing so for sexual purposes, but it's actually to get them all to stop using ChatGPT
