I use my HomePod mini to play white noise when I'm sleeping and after asking it to play white noise just now it replied in a completely different tone I've never heard before. Tried other commands & then same command again but it was all normal tone replies. Freaked me the hell out.

I've been really bothered by this all day. Voting for the Opportunity Party is a wasted vote. Not a serious party with ideas & costings like this, it's completely unrealistic, unworkable & would make NZ a worse place. Vote Green (or Labour) if you actually care about improving the country. #nzpol

Yes there will be less of a need for MSD staff but a 60% reduction in their operating budget? Probably not because Opportunity is still proposing “top-ups” with their UBI which is basically a similar system to what we have now but without all the punitive jobseeker obligation bull crap so only a slight reduction in MSD workload really. Adding new taxes and changing a lot of the tax system isn’t going to mean less work for IRD, not in the short to medium term, short term their work will increase so can’t cut that by 33% either. Everyone getting a UBI isn’t going to make our systemic child & domestic abuse problems disappear overnight either, in fact because they’re proposing paying UBI at a lesser amount than most benefits it could leave a lot of people worse off therefore exacerbating social issues, OT are already grossly underfunded & understaffed. The same can be said of our justice system, which is slow and overloaded, cutting their budget by 22% will make it even slower & more overloaded than it is now. This has not been thought through at all and more aligns with ACT policy than anything “teal”. Quite insane really.

I don’t have the Mail app installed on my iPhone, I use the Gmail app which doesn’t currently support being indexed for Siri AI so indexing finished in just over a day. I asked Siri some questions about all the times particular words/phrases have appeared in my messages and wow it actually works

Anthropic: Our latest model is so powerful we can only give it to approved companies because the US government banned us from releasing it publicly. Open AI: Well our new model is so powerful it broke out of it's testing environment so we can't even control it. I hate this bullshit 🤦‍♂️

Finally caved to FOMO and updated my iPhone to the latest iOS 27 Developer Beta yesterday. So far so good. Got the new Siri 5 minutes after joining the waitlist too and it handled multiple follow up questions about upcoming Wellington Phoenix games just like Apple showed in the keynote, neat!

I had a wonderful Sunday spent watching sports of all kinds with friends & family. Not often I get to "blob out" and be a "dude-bro" but it was a lot of fun. A good bit of news to finish the day off too. A world with less hypocritical & horrible people in it is better for us all. Cheers to that 🍻

People shouldn’t be getting mad at Sony for saying they’ll stop releasing games on disc in 2028, people should be getting mad at their non-existent return/refund policy for anything purchased from the PlayStation store. That’s the real crime. The physical game media ship sailed years ago.
