BusinessDesk@businessdesknz.bsky.social · 22h agoAs schools reported throwing out nearly one in three Compass lunches late last year, the Ministry of Education looked into adding sauce to make the meals more appealing but shelved the idea over cost.
I can’t say enough how vital this kind of writing is. It shouldn’t be rare to see decision makers & leaders being held to account, but this is one of the few crystal clear, absolutely on point articles I’ve seen outside of the excellent work being done by those who don’t have a mainstream platform.

![In an interim decision, released to the NZ Herald by the court yesterday, Judge Kate Davenport said the applicant had complained to Netsafe in March and May about posts on Bradbury’s The Daily Blog.
The complainant - whose name cannot be published because of a court order - believed the posts had breached the Harmful Digital Communications Act.
“Netsafe has completed their investigations and assessed the complaint against: (a) Principal 4 – a digital communication should not be indecent or obscene [and] (b) Principal 5 – a digital communication should not be used to harass an individual," said the judge.
“Having read the posts complained of, it is clear that the applicant has established a breach of those communication principles on an interim basis.”
The complainant had set out in their affidavit “the significant personal emotional distress” that they had suffered, said the judge in her interim decision.
The complainant said the “multiple posts had a profound impact” on their mood and they were “depressed”, “fearful” and worried for their safety.
The complainant said they had asked Bradbury to stop, “but he made further harmful comments” and suggested that if the person had been abused, then they should contact Netsafe or the police, according to the interim decision.
The complainant wanted the material taken down or disabled.
They also wanted Bradbury to stop what he was doing or not do it again; that he not encourage any other person to engage in similar communications; and that he publish an apology.
The judge granted an interim order for the removal of the posts, but was not prepared – on an interim basis – for an apology to be issued.

So he's "prepared to go to prison for free speech" but only because he has set out that he does not want to follow a potential Civil Order from a Judge under the Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015. Ignore the bullshit, this is actually serious.
By the way anyone defending Martyn Bradbury should consider that he's probably in court because of a Harmful Digital Communications Act request for a Civil Order.
CEO Johnny Cans@oldmatecans.bsky.social · 2d agoAnd it's absolutely the HDCA which sets a maximum fine of $5000 or six months in the clink if you do not do What The Court Tells You To Do. Which means this has gone by Netsafe, could not be resolved, and the plaintiff has requested a Civil Order under the HDCA.

Ultimately, he knows that applying logic to his positions is insulting to everyone involved, therefore if you try to do it, he'll insult you.

Like that children are there to be controlled by adults, like babies and birth are commodities to be controlled by the state, like citizenship is a state more valuable than non-citizenship.
