Permanently Disabled kids shouldn’t have to face a future living on a benefit that’s not enough to survive on, where bi-yearly they have to prove they still have an incurable condition. That’s not a future they deserve, it’s dehumanising, it’s depressing & it’s unacceptable. They have worth. #nzpol

My unpopular 2 cents about latest Roy Morgan polling, and just in general actually. #nzpol #Kikorangi
I'm thinking of where I've seen hopeful messages that engage young voters by promising them a better future and committing to material improvements to society in the last decade, and how studiously major parties ignore or oppose those politics.

It’s too late for the economy to save National now
OPINION: The economic recovery has stuttered too much to lift the voter mood by November.

The Great Replacement theory is racist, deeply misogynistic, and explicitly linked to anti-abortion and reproductive control. It’s important to say the quiet part out loud - this government has given plenty of reasons to be confident these views will be further embedded if power is retained. #nzpol
Winston Peters wants to pay people up to $45k, tax free, to have three kids. It’s a policy with a very nativist bent that will naturally draw comparisons to the “great replacement theory” conspiracy. www.thepost.co.nz/politics/361...
Still no comprehensive policy for disabled/chronically ill from the Labour Party. The Green Party remains the only party with policy that would materially improve the lives of people like me…. 100 days till the election. My future is literally in the hands of the voting public. Which sucks. #NZPol
Unless Labour rolls out an amazing disability policy, as a disabled person, I’m begging you all to vote for the Greens. So far they are the only party who would massively, materially change my life, and the lives of disabled & chronically ill Kiwis, for the better. @nzgreensglobal.bsky.social
Turns out that food companies were only checking their food because the government told them to, which is exactly why we need government regulations.
“Every day, powerful men are making decisions to increase the profits of a few at the top. And you pay the price.” “We will ensure the super rich and big corporations pay their fair share of tax so we can fund the critical services people rely on.” Sounds like a logical, smart, solid plan to me ✅

These people hold an extreme ideology where an asset is only an asset when privately owned, the very same thing is a wasteful cost in public hands. This is the propaganda front for the actually unpopular idea of wealth concentration in the hands of a few. Coincidentally who happen to fund them.
They promised to be laser focused on the cost of living last election campaign and we all know how that went…. #nzpol
Man, if only National had been in power for the last few years and been able to do all these things they've suggested recently.
now someone needs to ask him if paul henry will serve as a minister in his government, and then start reading a list of racist, sexist things he said. and then ask him how he plans to form a government when he's polling at 28%, and he's ruled out both coalition partners 🤣

It's genuinely pathetic to witness this govt desperately pretend that all the fuckery of the last 3yrs is, somehow, not their fault and, if you vote them back in, they are the only ones who can fix it #NZPOL

Also, a warning that ability is not static. An able person could experience disability tomorrow. We are all the potential benefactors of good disability policy. Disabled people who advocate for, campaign for and demand their rights and wellbeing are doing us all a favour. Pay it back with a vote.

For some people, voting is about ~vibes~, or how it might impact their wallets, but for an increasingly growing number of people, how people vote can literally be the difference between a life of quality or an agonising struggle to not die.

Rough sleeping, ‘move on’ orders yet empty Kāinga Ora homes & a CANCELLED building schedule of Kāinga Ora homes AND the land sold off…This coalition government is an abject failure for the people of Aotearoa/ New Zealand. I'll say it again for the 100th time. Poverty begets crime. You cannot be "tough on crime" whilst increasing poverty faster than we've ever seen before.

The Western European paranoia about burkinis really needs to go away, and hopefully courts ruling against businesses for discrimination speeds that along. Telling women how to dress is inherently antifeminist, whether you're telling them to take clothing off or put clothing on.
