do not trust this. at all. discord has already demonstrated what they're willing to do and lie about. don't pay for nitro. start making plans to move to a different, preferably more secure platform.

nevermind stoat uses gen ai lol, fuck that. the real answer is to wait 3 or 4 days and see what comes out when the dust settles.
there's an app called stoat (formerly revolt) that is effectively discord again but without the bullshit. probably will be the easiest transition from discord to something else. i made an account, we'll see what happens.
yeah so... that's it for me. i'm done using discord as my default. i'll probably go forward with signal, matrix, and irc. what a fucking disaster.

i switched to zen browser following a couple suggestions here, and so far it's pretty great! it only has vertical tabs which is a challenge to get used to, but otherwise i think that it's a pretty good browser. i'd say it's worth a shot for anyone looking to migrate to a new fork.

It will always, always, ALWAYS be healthier for a community to encourage and cheer people on for playing how they want, rather than shun them for playing a specific way. There is no standard way of playing a video game. Don't force one.

i would just like to remind everyone that making liberal use of the block button may be a good idea. while it definitely won't solve the core issues, it will make your time on this increasingly hell-like site significantly more bearable. big recommend
