Every thing I've seen about data centers creating jobs is just straight up lying and banking on people not knowing shit about how they work. You'd be extremely lucky to get more than 5 or 6 full time jobs out of the presence of one.

I’d rather set fire to my own legs than be famous. I just want to be able to write and publish books until I die, learn a fuckload of new stuff in the process, and give everything I've got to make each one better than the one before it.

Drove around my hometown not too long ago. Hoops were torn down in both basketball courts, the mall is open but there's nothing in it. Arcades are gone. Some of the fields we played football on are gone, etc. Even the pool hall is gone. Probably not universal, but true there.

I ask as always: What were these mythical "third places that previous generations had available to them?" The whole idea of "third places" is just so much Camelot mythmaking.
