Omigod, this is the most heartwarming story possible! Backpack (bear 89) is the son of the 2019 winner of Fat Bear Week, Holly (bear 435). In 2007, he injured his foot & a practice of riding on momma's Holly's back had a new meaning: he was mobility-restricted while it healed. So Holly moved him.

From DISCVR blog's Facebook page, a momma bear & a yearling cub on her back in the shallow water. I think the background has been swapped out, and I can't rule out some AI use there? God, Facebook has become the social media for AI slop : (

The title of the article, which I link below, is "How Bear 89 earned the name Backpack"

Meet Backpack, your 2026 Fat Bear Week champion. Backpack is 20 years old, weighs about 1,000 pounds and got his nickname because, as a cub, he loved riding on his mom's back across the Brooks River.

One thing about these recent "AI SOLVES MILLENIUM PROBLEM" headlines and all the following controversies that I find really discouraging: All these researchers going "Oh yeah, I fed all my research in the next token predictor". Like, you use the plagiarism machine and then complain about plagiarism?

Hey I did a Magic: the Gathering card. Actually I've done almost 30 at this point but this is the first one that's actually out :,) Draconic Visitor - AD Jason Gomez - coming out next month in the Reality Fracture release.

Digital illustration - a red dragon with twisting, impossible in perspective horns flies through an equally impossible twisting, spherical staircase, in the middle of a giant glowing backlit hall full of upside down staircases and draconic statues. The aforementioned illustration in it's borderless "Draconic Visitor" card frame.

I really love that for Wherever I’m With You we were able to push the characters age a bit and make it a college story. The story starts with their second year of college Aran was born 1989 and Tao 1990. The story takes place in 2009, with flashbacks to the late 90s and early 2000s

random encounters exist because the combat is fun you are supposed to enjoy it, if you dont enjoy it you should be playing a different video game, i dont understand how this conversation keeps happening

OH. right! i get it now!

i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes

Wanna hear a fucked up CG/math discrepency? CG projection matrices are NOT math projection matrices, the latter being idempotent, meaning P*P = P. This property means, that once you have projected a point, it won't change if you project it again. CG projection matrices don't have this property!

Posting some crappy hand-drawn amateur art in the age of fake images. Had some real issues drawing anything without throwing it away for a long while. Recently tried to get to an acceptable level again with a small A6 notebook. No masterpieces, but I'm happy that I didn't want to throw it away

thinking today about how quickly the same people switched from "covid is here to stay and we just have to live with it" to "covid is in the past and no longer a concern"
