I know this has been said many times, by many people, but the ads in Apple News are probably the very worst, stupidest, least-relevant, most AI-generated garbage of any ads I see all day long. And I *pay* for Apple News.

Dolly Parton's passing is effortlessly proving that if you spend your life being nice and kind and generous instead of mean and cruel and selfish, then apologists for mean cruel selfish bullies won't have to go around scolding people for cheering when you die, because there will be no cheering.
There’s so much Dolly-discourse about the proper uses of wealth and fame and legacy, and some harsh comparisons to others who also have or had those advantages. See @clairewillett.bsky.social for a vivid example. But there something nicer going on, worth mentioning:
STOP IT!! NO!! THE USPS DID *NOT* PUT THE MAIL-IN BALLOT RULE INTO EFFECT!!! Several social media and even major news outlets, are reporting that, despite court injunctions, the USPS put into effect Trump's mail-in balloting rule. THIS IS NOT ACCURATE! IT IS NOT TRUE!
Literally no one in DC is saying this. Jesus fucking Christ, it's been a goddamn mess. It took me an hour to get to work down at the wharf on Tuesday because everything was fucked.
Doug Burgum claims the residents of DC are telling him of the Indycar race, "please, please, do this again next year"
Uline is terrible and I won’t buy from them, but I die a little inside when I get a supplier shipment in one of their boxes. This web site has a list of alternative suppliers: refuseuline.com#resources
Refuse Uline
Uline is a purposely political company aligned with extreme right-wing ideology. Despite their politics, millions of small businesses and artists still use ULINE completely unaware of what their dolla...

That cardboard box in your home is fueling election denial... A boom in profits for the shipping supply giant Uline provided the funds for a deeply conservative Midwestern family to bankroll anti-democracy causes around the country. (Published 2022)
Undermining the Democratic process is in no way "conservative". These people are radicals, and it's time journalists start referring to them that way.

I think "quarter height nuclear fuel assembly" should replace "golf bag" as the UOM for trunk capacity.
Did you know: the Hyundai Elantra is perfectly sized to fit one (1) quarter height nuclear fuel assembly in its trunk?

#AvGeeks -- this Airbus A350 is currently the most tracked flight in the world. It's a test flight for the new QANTAS 'Project Sunrise' routes. This one is non-stop from Toulouse to Melbourne, covering about 42% of Earth's circumference size in one service. Currently over Saudi Arabia.

This is a *fantastic* video that explains exactly WTF is going on with Taylor Farms and how tracing works TLDR: - they are responsible - the false positive was only on one of several samples - it’s difficult to test parasites - there may still be other sources - Taylor Farms is being shady AF

You write your eulogy in life. If you want people to mourn, make your life something to celebrate. If you want people to celebrate, make your life something to mourn.
Sam Neil has so many great performances that it feels almost reductive to focus on one scene. Except it's one of the most iconic scenes in movie history and all of it, The groundbreaking CGI, the sweeping John Williams score *doesn't* work without the authentic joy and wonder of Neill's performance

I did a one-off build as a gift for a family member. Took a 1990s-era Ultra Power, and had a trusted friend do a custom powder coat. When the color parts came back I reassembled with a bunch of internal upgrades, 230V/50Hz conversion, and a new bowl with stainless accessories. #mixerology
We have a kitchen aid mixer that was purchased in the late 90’s. So 30 some years old. Still use it at least twice a week and it works perfectly so long as you push the pin back in place when you’re using it. It’s made cookies for both my kids their entire lives.
