honorable mention and the only *intentionally* scary thing i can remember: i never saw a child's play movie as a kid but i saw a picture of chucky and it scared me so bad that my family could make me burst into tears just by saying "chucky!" at me

LRP yeah i work for a firm that makes software for hosting content and we manage servers for our customers. for the last year or so a shit ton of our time and resources have been redirected toward bot mitigation because AI scrapers keep taking our fucking sites down. it's ridiculous

Something AI is responsible for that doesn't get enough talk: How, when it scrapes a website to illegally steal everything on it, it uses up a ton of its bandwidth allotment, crashing it or racking up massive fees for site owners.
